I agree with this article that American Idol hasn't been that good of a show this year. I don't like the infighting by the judges. I do think that they had the strongest field of contestants ever. Anyone of the top five could have won in previous years.

I am disappointed that Angie miller was voted off last week. She was my choice to win it all. Maybe that bodes well for her future career. If idol continues on next year like it did this year I'll probably not watch it any longer.

'Idol' Showdown

The singing competition will see 2 females in the finales in years. Meanwhile the judges table is in shambles

“American Idol” has had its ups and downs over the years. Consider this season a down.
The Fox singing competition closes out its rockiest season ever with a two-part finale Wednesday and Thursday. Here’s how things are going in “Idol” land: Ratings have plummeted to all-time series lows, the judge’s table is in turmoil and the once-untouchable franchise has shown signs of weakness like never before.
On a recent Thursday, “Idol” was not only topped by CBS’ “The Big Bang Theory” but also by ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy.”
Over at the judge’s panel, the experiment of getting Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey blew up in producers’ faces. After an early dust-up during auditions, the two spent the majority of the season pretending the other didn’t exist. The icy tundra between them created a massively uncomfortable experience for viewers; like sitting at a dinner table with two estranged family members who refused to pass each other the mashed potatoes. Minaj, for her part, was actually quite a good judge, as sharp and opinionated as Simon Cowell. But her spat with Mariah, who many times seemed wholly incapable of forming a complete sentence, made both of them seem petty and should have ended months ago.
How bad have things gotten? Even Randy Jackson is leaving. Last week, the Dawg announced he’d be vacating his chair, a position many thought he’d never leave. That leaves only host Ryan Seacrest from “Idol’s” original on-air team, while the fate of the other judges remains unknown. (When “Idol” comes to Ford Field for auditions July 21 — the show’s first Detroit talent visit in more than a decade — there’s no telling who will be in the judge’s chairs.)
Amid the chaos, there’s an “Idol” to be crowned. This week’s finale sees big-voiced church singer Candice Glover from St. Helena Island, S.C., squaring off against country belter Kree Harrison of Woodville, Texas, in the first all-female showdown since “Idol’s” third season. After a five-year string of male winners, “Idol” will crown its first female winner since Jordin Sparks won the title in 2007.
Of the two, Glover has the edge. She is capable of the kind of big glory moments that translate well to viewers, and she stole the show last week with her booming rendition of the “West Side Story” hit “Somewhere.” Harrison is more subdued and has been on a low simmer after peaking early in the season. She seemed genuinely surprised last Thursday when she made the finals over the cheery Angie Miller, and so did the judges. Miller seemed poised to walk away with this year’s “Idol” title.
“Idol” still has the potential to be a starmaker. While the show hasn’t produced a bonafide superstar since Carrie Underwood, its alums have done better than the graduates of any other reality singing competitions (anyone heard from any of “The Voice” winners?), and last year’s “Idol” champ Phillip Phillips sold more than four million downloads of his single “Home.” Yes, the “Idol” machine is wounded, but it’s not broken — not yet, at least.
